System ML Modeling of the Apollo Lunar Lander

In the spring semester of 2021 I did research on model based system engineering and systems modeling language at Georgia Tech. The research consisted of modeling system behaviors and requirements in Magic Draw softwares interactive graphical diagrams.

My team's final, semester-long research project was to create a system model of the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle while assessing the functionality of the software. My team spent weeks researching the functionality of the rover's chassis, power, navigation, control, and thermal control systems. As I owned the navigation system of the model, I researched the navigation system of the Apollo rover and made a model based on my findings. My navigation block of the system was integrated with other systems of the rover. From sensor data, the model calculated the rovers pitch and heading, coordinates relative to the moon landing site, and data on the surrounding environment.
