Structural Engineering Internship, Hermeus Corporation

  • Designed and topologically optimized thermal and structural properties of skin panel for a Mach 5 aircraft using NX software

  • Optimized and managing the manufacturing of 3,000 brackets for Mach 5 aircraft

  • Researched additive manufacturing methods of titanium for large scale industrial application

  • Wrote a structural testing campaign procedure for skin panel manufacturing methods

  • Assisted with design, transportation, and assembly of a 30 feet long full-scale aircraft manufacturing demonstrator

Engineering Intern, Vaya Space

  • Designed a 120-foot-tall transportable launch tower and associated hydraulic systems

  • Analyzed a test stand for a 75,000-pound thrust hybrid rocket engine

  • Modeled flight loads in MATLAB to perform structural bending and buckling analysis of a flight vehicle

  • Performed nonlinear thermal-structural transient analysis to study crack propagation of graphite nozzle inserts

Yellow Jacket Space Program Ground Structure Team Lead

  • Supervised the design and manufacture of ground systems for a liquid fueled rocket - i.e., launch rail, gantry, flame shields, water deluge system, static fire hold-downs

  • Designed and manufacturing 31-foot-tall launch rail and calculating deflections and supports needed in CAD

  • Developed and testing YJ-1S liquid rocket engine combustion chamber and ground feed system

  • Manufactured and analyzing 3 feet long liquid oxygen and kerosine tanks and their mounting

GT Spaceport America Cup Team Member

  • Sized a canard system for active guidance by analyzing flight data from previous launch using Kalman filters

  • Built a spring steel band with V-blocks, held together by nichrome wire that separates the two stages during flight

  • Fabricated a carbon fiber airframe which was 60% of the mass of the previously used fiberglass tube

Under-graduate Research, Model-based Systems Engineering/ Systems Modeling Language

  • Graphical modeling of system structures, behavior, and requirements to reduce cost and errors in the engineering process

  • Focusing in Next-Gen spreadsheets, impact analysis, DoDAF/UPDM interfaces, automation, and V&V patterns

  • Final project: system modeling of the Apollo Moon Lander
